Southern Krunk in the Windy City
Fresh off out perfect rib score, Andy and I were anxious to hit the road to keep our mojo working and try to allay the mediocrity that is our pork butt at present. Therefore, our journey led us to Hernando, MS. As fate would have it, we camped next to Two Fat Drunks Cooking, of which they are both at any given time. We also had a little time to clown around...
So, Andy and I decided to go to Merphis, land o' the ribs, to cook the Variety Club KCBS Comp. As a warning to all my bbq friends, going on I 40 from Hot Springs sucks the Devil's ballsack. Whoever the rat bastard in charge of road construction is should have his scrotum boiled in vingegar. That said, it provided a great excuse for Andy and I to sojourn to DeVall's Bluff to avert said Satanic construction and eat at Craig's BBQ.
Krunkilicious is our blog site. I've learned so much from reading blogs and other websites, I've felt compelled to "spill the krunk" about what goes down on the bbq trail. The pickled pig was a popular site that offered cooking tips and kept track of how teams ranked in the kcbs bbq race. Now there are a few other sites that track your progress in this arena, http://www.compbbq.com/scorecard/mostrecentcontests.php is one example.
We are heading to Memphis to cook at the Variety Club the last weekend in May. Memphis is all about dry rubs and pork. But this is a kcbs comp, so one would be wise to be attuned to the desires of the judges, without getting too crazy about this.
So, as they say in the business, stay tuned and join us along our krunkilicious journey!
